24C03168 Burglary Suspect Arrested - DePaz

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 4/12/24, at approximately 2:06 pm, Chelan County Deputies responded to 5501 Sunset Hwy, Cashmere Mill District Storage, in Cashmere, WA. for a burglary report.

It was reported to the Deputies that a suspect had broken into a storage unit and stole a drywall sander and associated equipment from the unit.

Through an investigation, the Deputy was able to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect cutting the lock on the victim unit the day before, and then returning early the next morning to enter the unit and steal the equipment.

On 5/1/24, at about 8:46 am, Marson and Marson Lumber in Leavenworth WA, reported the theft of a nail gun from their retail hardware store.  Deputies responded to take the report and then searched the area for the suspect based off the description from the security video.

The suspect was located by deputies after searching the area and was detained.  He had the stolen nail gun in his possession when being apprehended.

The suspect was identified as, Marcos Depaz, a 37 year old male from Cashmere, WA.  It was at this time that one of the investigating Deputies recognized that Depaz was wearing the same clothes and shoes, as the suspect in the storage unit burglary.

Continuing the investigation, it was determined that Marcos Depaz had committed the burglary of the storage unit as well.  Deputies obtained a search warrant to a residence that was associated with Depaz, located in the 5700 block of Goodwin Rd in Cashmere, WA.

A search warrant was conducted at the residence with the assistance of the CCSO Investigations Unit.  During the search warrant, the stolen drywall sander and associated equipment was located in the residence and recovered.

Marcos Depaz was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for multiple charges.
