Online Candidate Filing
Online filing begins Monday, May 15th, at 9:00 a.m. and closes Friday, May 19th, at 4:00 p.m.
Welcome! The Online Candidate Filing website will walk you through the process of declaring your candidacy for elected office. Candidates who file online will receive the following email benefits:
- Candidates will receive an immediate email when another candidate files for the same position.
- Candidates will have the choice to submit their online voters' guide statements and photos.
Your filing fee (if any) must be paid before the filing deadline. CANDIDATE FILING FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. It is your responsibility to submit your online filing correctly. Please make sure you:
- Read all instructions very carefully.
- File before the deadlines: Online Filing closes at 4:00 PM. on Friday, May 15, 2017. If you choose not to use this online option, you may file at our office between the hours of 9:00 AM. and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and the deadline for filing is 5:00 PM. on Friday, May 19, 2017.

Where and When to File Declarations of Candidacy (RCW 29A.24.070)
At the time of filing, a candidate’s voter registration data will be checked. If there are discrepancies, corrections to the voter registration file must be completed before the Declaration of Candidacy can be accepted. When filing for an office, candidates are not permitted to use a nickname that denotes present or past occupation, military rank, the candidate’s position on issues or political affiliation, or use a nickname designed to intentionally mislead voters. A candidate’s last name must match the last name under which he/she is registered to vote.
