Reserve ProgramThe Chelan County Sheriff's Office Reserve Program actually started in the 1950's under then Sheriff Dick Nickel. He called them the Posse and initially they were primarily search and rescue with additional duties. During the 1970's the Posse formed a subordinate group they called the Posse Patrol - the precursor to the Reserves. The actual delineating split of the Posse Patrol from the Posse was in 1983 under then Sheriff Joe Collins. It was at this time that the name was also changed to Reserves. The overall mission of the Chelan County Sheriff's Office Reserve Program is to assist and support the Sheriff. This assistance comes in a multitude of forms: working patrol, special event coverage, administrative support and any task assigned by the Sheriff. During 1999 the Reserves contributed over 5000 hours to the department and citizens of Chelan County. |
