Fire Prevention and Investigation

Self Inspection Fees

Fees for self-inspection is currently $25.00 annually.

A program change is being implemented  by Chelan County to do on-site inspections instead of the self-inspection form.

Inspections will be conducted at the commercial occupancy/business by qualified inspectors.

A walk through inspection of commercial occupancies provides an opportunity to educate the business owner and staff about fire and life safety requirements.

A portion of the inspections are anticipated to be accomplished by Chelan County Fire District personnel. Having fire personnel inspecting the commercial occupancies benefits the fire districts. The fire personnel have the opportunity to meet the building owners and managers. Fire personnel also have to opportunity to become familiar with the lay out and hazards should they need to respond to an emergency.

The inspections will be scheduled throughout the year. Inspections will be scheduled to have the least impact on business operations.

The Chelan County Fire Marshal will be contacting business owners to schedule inspections. Business owners may request Inspections by contacting the Chelan County Fire Marshal.

The time to travel to each site, do the inspection, and do the data entry to document the inspection are not covered by the current $25.00 fee.

Fee will increase to $50.00 for commercial occupancies up to 1000 square feet in area.

Fees will increase to $100.00 for commercial occupancies 1001 to 5000 square feet in area.

Fee for occupancies that are 5001 to 25,000 square feet in area will be $200.00.

For occupancies greater than 25,000 square feet in area, the fee will be$200.00 plus $65.00 per hour for the time in excess of 2 hours. (Time is calculated in increments of not less than one-half-hour.)

Up to two inspection visits to verify correction of any violations noted in the initial inspection will be included in the initial fee. If three or more follow-up inspections are required, travel and inspection time will be billed at $65.00 per hour. (Time is calculated in increments of not less than one-half-hour.)

If no deficiencies are noted in the inspection report and/or after the commercial business has corrected any deficiencies noted in the inspection report, the ‘Annual Fire and Life Safety Permit’ will be issued.

Inspections will be valid for 12 months from the time of the initial inspection.
