Posted By: Flood Control Zone District on August 27, 2018
The Chelan County Steering Committee, comprised of Chelan County, local fire districts and the cities of Cashmere, Chelan, Entiat, Leavenworth and Wenatchee, are spearheading the update of the 2011 Chelan County Multi-Jurisdiction Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Update.
The current plan is a comprehensive document that evaluates and identifies natural hazards, potential risks from those hazards, and projects to mitigate for and respond to hazard events. The 2011 plan is being updated to reflect a variety of changes over the last few years, including the integration of the Community Wildfire Protection Plan that will include additional details on this hazard. It will also include updates to hazard events, new capital infrastructure and the completion of multiple hazard mitigation projects.
The steering committee is meeting monthly through October 2018. Public outreach meetings are planned for:
- Oct. 9: 6 to 8 p.m. at Wenatchee City Hall, 129 S. Chelan Ave.
- Oct. 10: 6 to 8 p.m. at Leavenworth City Hall, 700 Highway 2.
- Oct. 11: 6 to 8 p.m. at Chelan County Fire District No. 7, 232 E. Wapato Ave.
