Board Of County Commissioners

Commissioner District 2

Shon Smith

Shon Smith, who represents District 2, was raised in Cashmere with conservative values and today owns businesses in Wenatchee and Leavenworth. Shon has a great concern for the ongoing health of the Wenatchee River Valley, its resources, its people and private property rights. He also has a passion for the success of small businesses because of their great impact on Chelan County.

In 1989, Shon graduated from Cashmere High School. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis on finance, in 1993 from Northwest Nazarene University. After college, Shon worked at Idaho Timber in Boise for two years. In 1995, Shon returned to the valley with his wife, Janeen, and worked for two years at Dovex Fruit Company in Wenatchee. Both work experiences gave him a feel for the timber and fruit industries and the impacts they have on our region. Shon then opened a restaurant in Wenatchee in 1997 and another in Leavenworth in 2014.

Generations of Shon’s family have farmed Eastern Washington, hunted and fished the lands and waters of Chelan County, and treated the land and environment with respect. He believes that while change may be inevitable, solutions to issues need to ensure that we maintain our local identity for the future. Shon and Janeen make their home in Cashmere with their four children.
