Stormwater Hotline
Stormwater is runoff from rain and snow storms. A system of gutters, ditches and storm drains collect the runoff and discharge it into local rivers and streams. Stormwater becomes a source of water pollution when oil, trash or other contaminants are dumped into gutters and storm drains.

County Comprehensive Plan - Transporation Element and County Wide Transportation Plan
Chelan County is updating the Transportation Element of the Chelan County Comprehensive Plan, which was initially developed in 2000. The growing population and changing nature of the regional economy requires us to realign our transportation needs with current and projected land use patterns.
The 20-year plan will identify needed improvements to the county’s roadways, bridges, bike, pedestrian, aviation and rail facilities. As required by the Growth Management Act, a prioritized transportation project list, financing strategies and implementation measures will be included in the plan.
A New Stormwater Management Program & Utility in the Greater Wenatchee Area of Unincorporated Chelan County
Over the last year, Chelan County and a Citizens Task Force have been evaluating options for addressing stormwater management needs within a service area encompassing unincorporated Chelan County around the city of Wenatchee. The proposed service area does not include properties within the city of Wenatchee, and therefore is a relatively small area, but because of the recent development densities, pace of growth, and increasing concerns about water quality in our rivers, action is now required.
After investigating the most effective stormwater management approaches and comparing those to current practices in Chelan County, it was clear that we have been struggling for years to meet full-time stormwater needs with a part-time funding source. When it comes to funding these needs, all developed properties in the service area including residents, businesses, churches, and schools need to be in this together.
Chelan County and the Citizens Task Force have developed a funding structure to reflect everybody’s contribution of runoff to or benefit from the stormwater system. A stormwater utility fee has been determined to be the best way to meet this goal.
