Spring Special Election Deadlines for 2017

Passage of Substitute House Bill 1919 changes deadlines for spring elections. New resolution deadlines and certification dates will be in effect as of July 24, 2015.

Deadlines for placing measures on the February or April ballot has increased from 46 days to 60 days. County Auditors must receive resolutions to the ballot no later than 60 days before the election. RCW 29A.04.321 and RCW 29A.04.330.

Certification for February and April elections will now be on the 10th day following election day. There are no changes to certification of primaries (14 days) and general elections (21 days). RCW 29A.60.190

SHB 1919 changed deadlines for appointing local voters’ pamphlet pro/con committee members. Jurisdictions must appoint members by the resolution deadline of 60 days. RCW 29A.32.280

In response to the early adjournment of the 2015 Regular Legislative Session and the passage of Substitute House Bill 1919, Elections Calendar now reflects the new dates for spring elections.

County Canvassing Board certifies April Special Election results May 9, 2017 May 5, 2017

Recount Application

This form should be included with each application for recount submitted to Chelan County Elections. If you have any questions on how to complete this form please contact Election Office at 509-667-6808. An application for a recount must be filed within two business days after certification of the election results. Applications for recount must be filed with the officer with whom filings are made for the jurisdiction. For those offices and measures filing with Chelan County an application for recount must be submitted to Chelan County Elections, 350 Orondo Ave, Level 3, Wenatchee, WA 98801. Detailed requirements for recounts can be found in RCW 29A.64.
