Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 4/16/24, at approximately 1539 hours, Chelan County Deputies responded to an arson call in the 10 block of Cloud Cap Ln in Wenatchee, WA.
It was reported by the victim that, 47 year old male, Cory Presby of Wenatchee, had set fire to a camping trailer and then fled on foot into the mountains. Deputies and fire responded to the location and found a camping trailer fully engulfed in fire.
Deputies conducted a thorough search of the area for Presby to include the use of a drone and the Chelan County Sheriff’s helicopter. Presby was not located at that time.
Later at approximately 9:30 pm, RiverCom Dispatch received a phone call from Presby, who had become lost in the mountains and was now cold as the temperatures had dropped and the wind was blowing. Deputies then located Presby on the deck of some new construction approximately ¾ mile from the location of the arson. Presby was provided medical aid and then warmth and shelter at the Chelan County Jail.
Presby was charged with Arson 1st degree as well as a felony violation of a No Contact Order.
