Join Community Development for Sept. 13 outreach meeting

Chelan County Community Development will be holding a community outreach meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The meeting will be 6 to 8 p.m. in the Commons Area of Wenatchee High School, 1101 Millerdale Ave.

“We want to talk about our processes while at the same time give the community an opportunity to ask us questions,” said Deanna Walter, director of Community Development. “We hope to have these meetings regularly, with future meetings planned for other parts of the county.”

On Sept. 13, Walter will talk about accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, and the recently passed state legislation that encourages construction of ADUs. Walter, who became the permanent director of Community Development in April, also will talk about what staff has done to improve customer service and to improve the building permit application process. Then she will open the meeting up for questions. Walter also will be joined by staff, including the department’s new building official and assistant director.

“I want these meetings to be a tool to not only better educate the community about our role in Chelan County but also to address timely topics and concerns from the public,” Walter said.
