Job Classification: $21.00 Hourly
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining the conditions, security, and overall quality of the grounds and facilities, as well as the experience of the guests using the Chelan County Expo Center. Hours are approximately 18 hours per week, March through October.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Expo Center
- Maintains the daily water quality tests April through October, makes or coordinates adjustment to system as needed. Continually checks system for proper operations and maintenance
- Maintains the beauty & quality of the fairground’s lawns & gardens. Responsible for mowing, weeding, pruning, watering, edging, aeration & establishing an application plan for fertilizers & pesticides
- Responsible for the cleanliness & sanitation on the grounds & in the buildings
- Maintains supplies necessary to achieve the quality standards
- Maintain the water system to a 140 site RV Park
- Create & maintain perpetual services on all facility systems
- Assist in coordinating & participating in set up of each event
- Direct contact & support with event personnel.
- Maintenance & cleaning of restrooms, garbage disposal on weekends during peak season weekends when needed
- Responsible for the maintenance schedule & records of all equipment
- Waters & grooms the arena weekly during season
- Handles other tasks & responsibilities as directed by the Expo Manager/Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Fair
- Responsible in assisting Directors & Superintendents for the set up needs in their buildings
- Responsible for assisting in any set up needs for livestock
- Responsible for the power set up for all vendors
- Assist in garbage pick-up & bathroom cleaning
- Assist in overseeing preparations of buildings & grounds for fair event
- Responsible for all minor repairs during fair
- Assist in tear down & cleaning after fair
- Will be required to work a full seven days & overtime before & after fair

QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of irrigation repair, minor equipment maintenance, carpentry skills, toilet & sink repair, minor electrical repair, proficient painting ability, & minor welding a plus. Must have excellent forklift skills. Ability to operate the following pieces of equipment, tractor, para groomer, push & ride lawn mowers, weed-eaters, power saws, snow blower, manual transmission truck, grinders & many hand tools.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years of forklift, tractor, & maintenance skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively speak before groups, organizations, and employees.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing this job, the employee must be able to lift up to 70 pounds. Able to walk on uneven surfaces, concrete for considerable lengths of time. Employee must be able to stoop, kneel, and work off of ladders, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Valid Washington State driver’s license. Forklift certification a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment can often demand physical activity in all season’s climate. Position is a fast paced environment with multi-tasking a must. Employee will have direct contact with the public, many of these people may exhibit hostile behaviors, such as profanity, verbal abuse, and angry outbursts. Planning, organization, communication, and self-control are a must.
