Chelan County Law Library

Chelan County Law Library

The Chelan County Law Library is located on the 5th floor of the Law and Justice Building. Pursuant to RCW 27.24.010, Chelan County is required to have and maintain a public law library. The importance of the law library has increased significantly due to an increase in the number of persons representing themselves in court.

The library currently shelves various reference materials relating to Washington state law.  Additionally, the library has two public access computer terminals providing links to state websites with legal information and forms.  Access to Chelan County Superior Court case files is provided through OnBase which is installed in one of the terminals.  Lexis Advance is available through the other computer terminal allowing legal research from databases which include state case law and statutes from all 50 states, federal cases and statutes, law review articles, and Deskbooks published by the Washington State Bar Association.

The superior court employs a law clerk who also serves as the county librarian. The law clerk/librarian and other court staff is available to assist with reference questions, but cannot conduct research for litigants/members of the public.
