Description
Salary; RCO3 $25.65 per hour, Benefits include Washington State Sick Leave.
SUMMARY
Temporary full-time employee for four months for Snow and Ice Control. Operating snow removal, sand/anti-icing equipment or other duties as assigned during winter conditions at night and on weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Driving trucks to destinations in a safe and lawful manner.
Maintaining telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.
Inspecting truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
Loading and unloading truck.
Positioning blocks, rope or chains to secure loads as required during transit.
Pulling levers to tilt body and dump contents.
Operating various equipment required on the job sites.
Hauling or spreading sand or anti-icing material.
Performing manual labor involving shoveling or other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Snow removal experience preferred but not mandatory.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Washington State Driver’s License, Class A
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Day to day duties shall include, but not be limited to slide removal; snow and ice control; slick roads, limited visibility, nights and weekends. Mostly operating from operators platform but might be required to load and unload trucks, install or remove tire chains. Willing and able to work alone or independently without supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works out doors operating heavy or light equipment; is exposed to extremes of weather and temperature, traffic hazards, dust, dirt, and noise. May be required regularly to lift 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more.
