25C06036 - Residential Burglars Caught and Arrested
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison reports, on 7/2/25, at 11:50 AM Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 6700 block of Forest Ridge Rd in Wenatchee.
The homeowner was reporting that they were currently on vacation and out of the area but found through watching home security video remotely, that their home cleaning service had shown up to their house earlier at 1:30 AM which is outside normal business hours. The homeowner further reported that he saw a male and female subject going in and out of their house with their personal belongings and were even wearing some of their clothes. The suspects had been at the residence for over 10 hours and were currently still there.
Deputies responded and contacted a male identified as:
Steven C. Leighton a 36 year old male from East Wenatchee
and a female identified as:
Alexis C. Pipkin, a 34 year old female also from East Wenatchee.
Through the investigation deputies established that the female worked for the cleaning company but was there outside established working hours. The male was not an employee of the cleaning company. Probable cause existed for the arrest of Leighton and Pipkin for residential burglary.
The suspects’ vehicle was seized for a search warrant. When the search warrant was conducted on the vehicle, multiple items from the residence were recovered including clothing.
Leighton and Pipkin were both booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for violations of RCW 9A.52.025 Residential Burglary, RCW 9A.56.041.1 Theft 2nd Degree. Pipkin has an additional charge for RCW 9.35.030 Identity Theft 2nd Degree for initially identifying herself as her sister, while committing a crime.
