Sheriff Mike Morrison reports on Jan. 24, 2026, a 33-year-old Leavenworth man, David Gimlett was reported missing. Mr. Gimlett was said to have left the 3200 block of Hansel Lane in Peshastin on foot during the evening of Jan. 23. He had not been heard from since.
Deputies checked the area over the weekend and followed up on various tips. They had Mr. Gimlett entered as a missing person. Mr. Gimlett’s cell phone had not been active since the evening Jan. 23. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office deployed various search methods since Mr. Gimlett was reported missing, including helicopter, ground search and drones. On Jan. 29, Chelan County Volunteer Search and Rescue members were deployed to the area to contact the neighborhood. A CCVSAR member located Mr. Gimlett in Peshastin Creek. Unfortunately, Mr. Gimlett was deceased.
Mr. Gimlett’s family has been notified. Chelan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community for tips and its engagement during this incident.
