Comments open for Mission Ridge expansion’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement

Chelan County is accepting comments until Oct. 21 on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for a proposed expansion at Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort.

The DEIS, along with guidelines for submitting comments, is available online.

Mission Ridge proposes expanding its resort to enhance existing services at the local ski resort for year-round outdoor recreation. Among the applicant’s plans are to expand its alpine ski area, develop a snow tubing area and Nordic ski area, improve roads and parking, construct commercial spaces and build a variety of lodging options, including single-family residences, condominiums, townhouses, a new lodge and employee housing.

The proposed project is located on the eastern side of the Cascade Range, about 12 miles southwest of Wenatchee. The project area overlaps a portion of and adjoins the northeast boundary of the existing resort. The resort currently covers more than 2,000 acres of leased land managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. The project area includes lands proposed for development within and outside of current resort boundaries, totaling about 1,090 acres across both public and private lands.

For additional details on the proposed Mission Ridge Master Planned Resort, go to the Current Planning webpage.

In addition, Chelan County Natural Resources will host a public workshop from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Center Way, Suite 102, in Wenatchee. County staff, the consultant team and Mission Ridge representatives will be available at the workshop. The workshop’s presentation portion begins at 6 p.m. The link to join the presentation via Zoom at 6 p.m. is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83212840568 (Webinar ID: 832 1284 0568).

No public comment will be taken at the in-person workshop. Comments on the DEIS can be submitted in a variety of ways:
