The June 10 public hearing on the new proposed building and planning fees was continued to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17. Commissioners closed the public comment period after taking comments on June 10. Join the commissioners on June 17 either in person or via Zoom.
The Board of County Commissioners continues to discuss adjusting the building and planning fee schedule, which has not been holistically updated in about 14 years.
Commissioners held a workshop in April with Community Development; that workshop was continued to 10:15 a.m. on May 20. A public hearing on the new proposed fees is set for 10:30 a.m. on June 10.
Written comments are taken up until the public hearing is closed for public comment.
Currently, building and planning fees are not based on a cost-recovery scale. In 2024, the County used just over $300,000 from its general fund to pay for expenses in Community Development.
Commissioners have discussed making Community Development a cost-recovery department, where its revenues cover its expenses, ensuring those who receive the department’s services are paying for the services.
