Coroner: Man in county jail died of drug overdose

A 53-year-old Entiat man who was found dead in April by corrections deputies at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center died of a drug overdose, the Chelan County coroner recently announced.

Scott A. Glass died of acute fentanyl intoxication; his death has been ruled an accident, said Coroner Earl Crowe. The autopsy report was released to the Chelan County coroner on June 22.

Glass, who had been incarcerated in the county jail since January, was found unresponsive in his bed in a general population cell at about 5:30 a.m. on April 26. Corrections deputies immediately began lifesaving measures, and emergency responders from the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department and Ballard Ambulance continued those efforts upon their arrival. However, Glass was later pronounced dead.

The Wenatchee Police Department is investigating Glass’ death.

Because of the ongoing investigation, the Chelan County Regional Justice Center has no further comment. An information sheet about the jail, with frequently asked questions, is available online.
