County celebrates opening of new campus in Olds Station

Chelan County commissioners will hold a ribbon-cutting event on April 16 to commemorate the opening of the new Olds Station Campus.

An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, with the ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. County officials will speak briefly at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Tours of the buildings will also be offered; people can drop in anytime during those two hours.

Parking is very limited at the facility, 425 Ohme Garden Road in Wenatchee, so attendees are asked to carpool to the site.

The Olds Station Campus is the new home to the Chelan County Coroner, Chelan County Emergency Management and the county’s motor pool operation. The county purchased the 2.75-acre property in April 2024 for $1.8 million.

Construction was started last year. Four buildings were built, including three large steel structures that have both office space and large bays for equipment and vehicles. Construction cost about $7.8 million.

Construction is being paid for with a mix of county funds, including $1 million from the county’s American Rescue Plan Act allocation, $3.6 million from the rural counties' tax and $3 million from the county’s Criminal Justice Fund. The state also appropriated $485,000 to the project in its 2025-27 capital budget.
