Disaster Assistance Center opening for 2 weeks in May

A disaster assistance team will be in Leavenworth for two weeks in May to help people and families applying for individual and household assistance related to the December 2025 flooding and windstorm.

A Disaster Assistance Center, or DAC, will be established at the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, 940 US 2, suite B. Hours will be 12:30 to 6 p.m. May 11-15 and May 18-22. The DAC will be open only on weekdays.

The deadline to apply for assistance is June 10. Representatives from FEMA and the Washington State Emergency Management Division will be on hand to answer questions about the application process.

In Washington, FEMA assistance is available for individuals and households in 10 counties, including Chelan County. People who sustained losses from the flooding in the designated areas should first file claims with their insurance providers and then apply for assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or by using the FEMA App, available in both the Apple and Google Play stores.

If you have received Washington State Disaster Assistance, you must report that assistance to FEMA to avoid duplication of benefits. Not reporting assistance may delay your FEMA application or result in FEMA requiring repayment of funds.

For questions, contact your case managers or the State Disaster Recovery Hotline at 833-719-4981.

As a reminder, the U.S. Small Business Administration also has low-interest federal disaster loans available to Chelan County businesses, private nonprofits and residents to offset physical and economic losses from the December flooding event. The deadline to return physical damage applications has passed. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Nov. 24. More information is on the Chelan County Emergency Management website.
