Many people don’t realize how many lives are saved on a routine basis by the staff at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center. Unfortunately, suicide attempts and complications from drug use are not uncommon in a jail.

Five employees were recently recognized for their life-saving efforts this past year. They were recognized on April 19 at the Wenatchee Valley Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony. The event was held in the Eastmont High School auditorium.

Life Saving Awards were given to:

Sgt. Jason Krawczyk and Deputy Jessica Wilson:  In recognition for their life-saving actions in April 2022. An individual, shortly after being brought to the jail for booking, became unresponsive from a possible drug overdose. Narcan was administered. Krawczyk’s and Wilson’s actions saved the life of an incarcerated individual and represented the Chelan County Regional Justice Center in an exemplary manner.

Corporal Jason Nieman and Deputy David Hisey: In recognition of their quick response to an attempted suicide in 2022 and for directing your team in this highly stressful situation. They contacted all the necessary people and got aid rendered immediately. They assisted the other deputies and medical staff to stabilize this person by applying pressure to open wounds until outside medical arrived and took over. Their actions to provide life-saving measures preserved the life of an incarcerated individual and represented the Chelan County Regional Justice Center in an exemplary manner.

Life Saving Award for Deputy Robert Brock and Deputy Jessica Wilson: In recognition for their life-saving actions on an incarcerated person who attempted suicide in 2022. Video shows this individual was very motivated to cause self-harm. Their actions providing life-saving measures preserved the life of an incarcerated individual and represented the Chelan County Regional Justice Center in an exemplary manner.

Also recognized were 2022 Deputy of the Year Williams Edge, 2022 Employee of the Year Sara Eggers and 10 employees who received letters of appreciation in 2022 for going above and beyond their daily duties. They are: Sgt. Jeff Hughes, Corporal John Wright, and deputies Logan Crane, Isaac Escalera, Robert Brock, Lisa Baker, Fernando Ponce, Jody Casey, Bryan Bertomeu and Zachary Cutshall.
