Drop-off brush rates going up Sept. 1
Drop-off brush rates are increasing at the Dryden and Chelan transfer stations beginning Sept. 1.
The new rates are due to the increased cost Chelan County Public Works is paying to have a vendor grind the material. Both facilities operate drop-off brush yards for yard waste such as leaves, tree branches and brush clippings; the facilities are only for residents living outside the Apple Maggot Quarantine Zone.
The new fees will be:
- Dryden Transfer Station brush drop-off: $115 per ton, or a $30 minimum charge for loads under 480 pounds.
- Chelan Transfer Station brush drop-off: $20 per cubic yard, or $15 minimum for loads less than a cubic yard.
In addition, the Dryden Transfer Station is making the following changes beginning Sept. 1:
- The fee for used passenger tires will be $4 a tire when disposed of with other municipal garbage and a bulk rate of $240 a ton when disposed of without other municipal garbage.
- The minimum fee for scrap metal will be $15 for an amount up to 1,000 pounds and $30 a ton over 1,000 pounds.
- People can dispose of up to two appliances (non-Freon) at a rate of $15; additional appliances will be charged $5 per unit.
The prices for household garbage are not changing at either facility. For more information, visit our Transfer Stations webpage.
