Extreme backlog of building permit applications is causing processing delays of up to 90 days!
We are experiencing an extreme backlog in building permit application processing. Delays, in some cases over 90 days, can be expected. The new state energy code taking effect on February 1, 2021, and the unexpected rising materials costs has caused a "rush" of permit applications that we do not have the staff capacity to easily respond to. We are hiring additional staff to help manage the backlog (350 open applications as of May 3, 2021).
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may result in! Our staff are working hard to get caught up, but new applications keep coming in.
