To be a good fire investigator, you must have a fire prevention background, says Kyle Osburn, fire inspector and investigator with Chelan County Fire Prevention & Investigation. This week, Osburn talks about the work his office does, from investigating the cause of a fire to making sure businesses are safe. Businesses in unincorporated Chelan County should plan to see Osburn or Dylan Dryer, as walk-through fire inspections will be starting soon. Osburn even gives you a heads-up on a few things he will be looking for. His office wants to see all businesses be successful while keeping people safe, he said. The burning of hand piles on 640 acres in the Plain and Lake Wenatchee area began Oct. 27 and is expected to take two weeks. The hand piles are accumulated forest debris created over the past year on the Upper Wenatchee Forest Health Project.
