Salary: NB18 Steps 2-4 $5,705.10-$6,246.28 Longevity Steps 5-8 $6,537.33-$7,500.75

The position includes a state retirement system, with a deferred comp program available. Health insurance package includes Medical, Dental, and county contributions to a personal health savings account. Includes up to 11 paid holidays and additional floating holidays per collective bargaining agreement. Along with monthly accrued vacation and sick leave. 

SUMMARY

Assistant Expo Director assists the Expo Center Director in managing the day-to-day operations and events at the Chelan County Fairgrounds. They will assist in determining events that give the county the highest and best use of the property.  The Assistant Expo Director will also assist in the planning and execution of the Chelan County Fair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Expo Center;

  • Assist in marketing the facilities for events.
  • Assist in receipting revenues, invoicing payables, and reconciling accounts
  • Assist in planning for capital improvements, searching & writing grants for improvement funds
  • Assist in budget planning
  • Assist in managing a 140 site RV Park
  • Assist in overseeing private water system
  • Assist in coordinating & participating in set up of each event
  • Direct contact & support with event personnel. Share in being available at all times they are on the property
  • Maintenance & cleaning of restrooms, garbage disposal on weekends during peak season weekends

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Fair;

  • Assist in preparing & sending contracts for all vendors, entertainment, rodeo, carnival, & all other services with the direct supervision of the Director/ Manager
  • Assist in processing, receipting, reconciling & depositing all fair funds & accounts
  • Assist in working & helping each Fair Board Director with their department
  • Assist in training Superintendents & preparing all fair related paperwork & supplies
  • Assist in overseeing preparations of buildings & grounds for fair event
  • Assist in updating Winfair computer program
  • Assist in processing all fair judging & auction results then enter into Winfair system
  • Assist in preparing & processing all entry, judging, camping, auction, & stall assignment documents
  • Meet with ticket takers & bank, prepare all paperwork & tills
  • Assist in inventorying & ordering all ribbons & awards
  • Assist in processing all premium & auction checks
  • Attend monthly fair board meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Considerable knowledge of office and accounting practices.  Experience in fair participation and or event planning. Ability to work effectively in a high pressure environment, plan effectively, meet deadlines, express ideas concisely, orally and in writing, lead and direct others, and maintain a professional attitude at all times with the public.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years of fair participation, and or event planning.  Ability to operate standard office equipment.  Familiar with computer data entry, word document, and excel.  Basic bookkeeping, record keeping and budgeting skills. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rental agreements, entertainment contracts, vendor contracts, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively speak before groups, organizations, and employees.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing this job, the employee must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.  Able to walk on uneven surfaces, concrete for considerable lengths of time.  Employee must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. The employee will be required to sit for lengths of time, talk and hear.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment can often demand physical activity in all season’s climate.  Position is a fast paced environment with multi-tasking a must.  Employee will have direct contact with the public, many of these people may exhibit hostile behaviors, such as profanity, verbal abuse, and angry outbursts. Planning, organization, communication, and self-control are a must.
