Announcements: Community Development Week of May 15

Chelan County Community Development shares the following changes and announcements that begin immediately:

  1. We are going digital! Chelan County will no longer accept paper copies for building permit submittals. Please make sure scanned plans are scaled appropriately.
  2. Chelan County will no longer accept partial or incomplete building permit submittals; only completed applications are accepted. This is because deficient submittals draw staff resources from other complete applications, making processing times longer for ALL applications. Complete applications will increase efficiencies and reduce processing timelines, impacting all customers of Community Development.
  3. Due to topographic limitations in Chelan County and the vast amount of geologically hazardous areas, all new construction building permit submittals now require a geo-haz site assessment. The site assessments are completed by a private professional of your choice.
  4. Pools in Chelan County require a minimum 5-foot secure safety fence. Automatic pool covers will not be permitted in lieu of the required fencing.
  5. The new short-term rental application window for Tier 2 and Tier 3 operations is June 1 through July 31. Tier 1 applications are accepted throughout the year, as they do not contribute to the “cap” in each zip code.
