The open seat is a three-year term that starts in January 2025. The 11-member board meets once a month, typically at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month.
The Housing Authority assists in providing affordable housing to households that are 80 percent or below the area’s median income, as established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It also supports local efforts to encourage short-term housing assistance.
The Housing Authority strives to create a diverse board, including representation from the Latinx, low-income, program participants and under-represented communities.
Local government representatives appoint board commissioners. This open position will be appointed by the Board of Chelan County Commissioners. Candidates must live in the county’s District 1. Apply by Nov. 14.
Potential candidates may have experience in agriculture, building or construction, law, or public health. They may have personal experiences seeking community services or utilizing the housing authority, or serving people in low-income communities.
Interested candidates should email Chelan County Commissioner Kevin Overbay at Kevin.Overbay@co.chelan.wa.us. Include your name and contact information. Finalists will complete a short interview with Overbay before he makes his recommendation to the Board of Chelan County Commissioners.
