Area vets invited to Sept. 29 seminar to learn about benefits, services

Area veterans are invited to a daylong seminar on Sept. 29 to learn more about those benefits and programs that assist people who have served in the armed forces.

The Chelan County Veterans Seminar is a new event that Veterans Program manager Tony Sandoval hopes to build upon and offer annually in the future.

“We will have veterans service officers from around the area at this event,” Sandoval said. “It will be a great opportunity to ask your local VSO those questions that you need answered.”

The Veterans Seminar will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Confluence Technology Center, 285 Center Way in Wenatchee. It is sponsored in part by Vets Serving Vets.

The schedule is as follows:

10 a.m. Welcome, including introductions, agenda discussion and distribution of informational folders
10:30 a.m. Compensation discussion, including new PACT Act, education, pension and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)
11:45 a.m. Lunch by Two Chefs Catering, provided by Vets Serving Vets
12:15 p.m. Healthcare discussion, including VA Healthcare, Home-Based Primary Care and Home Telehealth
1:30 p.m. Burial and cemetery discussion
