Chelan County Public Works and the City of Cashmere will host an open house on Aug. 30 for citizens interested in a $3 million improvement project to Goodwin and Sunset roads.
The open house, which is a drop-in event, will be held 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Cashmere City Hall, 101 Woodring St. A Spanish interpreter will be available.
The road improvement project, which is under design now, is expected to go out for bid this winter. Construction will begin in spring 2023 and take about 115 days to complete. The project will rebuild a portion of Goodwin Road, Sunset Road and its intersection with Evergreen Road. The roads will be rebuilt from subgrade and widened, with sidewalk on the south side of Sunset Road and on both sides of Goodwin Road.
When completed, the road will be safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. The new roadway will create a uniform corridor from the Sunset Road market area to Goodwin Road to the newly built roundabout on Hay Canyon Road.
