Clerk offices have special public hours this week to make up for statewide network outage

The walk-up counter at the Chelan County Superior Court Clerk’s Office is closed for normal business until Friday, Nov. 22, so staff can begin processing any paperwork that was put on hold because of the recent statewide outage of the Washington Courts computer systems.

At the Clerk’s Office:

  • From today through Thursday, Nov. 21, only customers who seek a protection order or who have an appointment to get a passport will be served in the Clerk’s Office lobby. All other customers are asked to use the mailbox outside of the door to drop off any filings.
  • Clerks will be processing any paperwork that comes in via the drop box and the U.S. mail in addition to the work they have been unable to do for the past two weeks.

In addition, the Chelan County District Court clerk’s office will be operating on reduced hours Nov. 19-22. The office will be closed to the public from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday to allow staff time to process backlog case information. Phones will be open during all regularly scheduled hours.

Also at the District Court Clerk’s Office:

  • People who need to file an anti-harassment order during those closed hours can call the court at 509-667-6600 when they arrive at the office, and a clerk will assist with getting the paperwork from them.

At Chelan County Superior Court, hours remain unchanged; trials and hearings are proceeding this week as scheduled. People contacted for jury duty need to report as directed.

Earlier this month, the state detected unauthorized activity on Washington’s Administrative Office of the Courts network. The system was taken offline on Nov. 4, disrupting daily operations at superior courts, county clerks’ offices and district courts across the state. All have been unable to reach any state court webpages since that time.

The system came back online Nov. 18.
