Commissioners award contracts on two construction projects

Chelan County commissioners in January awarded construction contracts for both the High Street Drainage and the Yodelin Creek Culvert Replacement projects, public works projects that will be completed this year.

A $80,300 contract was awarded to Agostino Construction Inc. of Maple Valley to improve stormwater drainage in the High Street/Pine Street area of Peshastin. The concrete pipe that connects High Street to the existing mainline is failing and will be replaced.

During construction, road traffic on the southeastern section of High Street and on Pine Street, as well as the intersection of Main and Pine streets, will be limited to one lane. Construction should begin April 15 and will take 12 working days.

A $958,569 contract also was awarded to Strider Construction Co. of Bellingham to replace a multi-culverts crossing at Stevens Road (off of Highway 2 near the summit) with a single-span bridge over Yodelin Creek.

The crossing was damaged during a November 2015 flood event and temporary repairs were made. The project will be mostly paid for with FEMA and State Emergency Mangement dollars. Construction will start in July and is expected to take 80 working days, lasting into October. During construction, the road will be closed to through traffic and a detour will be in place.

Chelan County Public Works projects are on the Capital Projects page.
