County assessor to host four spring community meetings
Chelan County Assessor Wes Cornelius invites property owners and all interested parties to attend one of four community meetings scheduled this spring throughout the county.
Cornelius and his staff will talk about how the assessment process works, how the office uses sales data to do its market sales analysis, and how they break out neighborhoods for revaluation purposes. The meetings will include a short introduction and then a description of trends the Assessor's Office is seeing in the real estate market and how those trends may affect 2024 assessed values for 2025 taxes. There will also be time for the public to ask questions.
"We had a four-year hiatus, but we’re looking forward to getting back out into our local communities to share what we do at the Assessor's Office and answer all of your questions," Cornelius said. "We believe the property assessment process for property tax purposes should not be a mystery to the taxpayers of Chelan County."
The following meeting times are planned:
Cashmere and South Wenatchee/Malaga area: 7 to 8 p.m. on March 27 at Wenatchee High School in its new commons area, 1101 Millerdale Ave.
Entiat and North Wenatchee area: 7 to 8 p.m. on April 24 at Wenatchee Valley Fire Station No. 11, 206 Easy St. in Wenatchee.
Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee area: 7 to 8 p.m. on May 15 at the Leavenworth Fire Hall, 228 Chumstick Highway in Leavenworth.
Chelan and Manson area: 7 to 8 p.m. on June 26 at Chelan City Hall, 135 E. Johnson Ave. in Chelan.
