County road crew will be chip sealing on Chumstick Highway

On July 6, Chelan County road crews will be chip sealing portions of Chumstick Highway. Crews will be doing two portions -- a lower and upper stretch. The road crew will start on the lower section (milepost 0.11 to 1.25) in the morning and move to the second section (milepost 7.01 to 10.02). Signage is up on Chumstick Highway, alerting motorists to the scheduled work.

During chip sealing, the roadway is at one lane, with flaggers directing traffic. A pilot car will be used to lead people through the work area. The speed limit will be 35 mph in the work area.

Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Please plan to use other routes if you can on Monday, July 6.

After chip sealing, there will be loose gravel on the roadway. The loose gravel is broomed a couple of days after chip sealing, giving the roadway time to cure. So there will be loose gravel from July 6 until about July 9. Continue to drive at a reduced speed limit during that time and give yourself space between vehicles.

Later in the week, the crew will also chipseal North Shore Drive and Little Wenatchee, Chiwawa Loop and Beaver Valley roads.
