In response to the Sleepy Hollow Fire, Chelan County Public Works, with support from the County’s Flood Control Zone District, will be installing a second culvert under Scenic View Drive between Sleepy Hollow Heights and Skyview Court on Thursday, July 9, 2015.
As experienced in the aftermath of recent fires, the impact of rainfall over a burn area can be severe. The burned surface cannot absorb the precipitation quickly enough, causing dirt, rocks and other debris to travel quickly in the run off and overwhelm drainage systems. This project within the Sleepy Hollow Estates neighborhood is in anticipation of increased runoff flows during upcoming rain events and is intended to provide additional downstream conveyance capacity in order to lower the potential damage to the public right-of-way.
Travelers through the work zone can expect one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic with minimal delays. The work is anticipated to be complete by end of day Thursday. Please contact Lauren Loebsack, Public Information Officer at 509/667.6341.
