FCZD advertises RFQ for No. 2 Canyon project

The Chelan County Flood Control Zone District solicits interest from qualified consulting firms that wish to be evaluated and considered for providing a comprehensive, basin-wide assessment for the No. 2 Canyon conveyance, located in both Chelan County and the city of Wenatchee. The duration of the agreement is expected to be about two years.  This project is funded through a Department of Ecology Flood Control Assistance Account Program and the FCZD.

To for more information, including the full RFQ, visit the Public Works' Consultant and Small Works webpage. SOQs are due at 4 p.m. on Jan. 7.

No. 2 Canyon is located immediately west of Wenatchee. This basin is situated along the east slopes of the Cascade Mountain foothills on the western edge of a semi-arid desert. No. 2 Canyon has a basin area of about 9.5 square miles. The canyon discharges flows into the urban Chelan County and city of Wenatchee system via a restricted drainage along the western edge of the city, where rural low-density development transitions into higher-density urban development. Runoff from No. 2 Canyon poses a risk at times to both public and private property and safety due to mud flows, debris flows and debris torrents.

The FCZD was established in 2014 in response to not only the growing frequency and severity of flash and stage flooding in greater Chelan County but also the resulting impacts and risks to public infrastructure and critical facilities.
