An urgent message from the Chelan-Douglas Health District:
Aug. 20, 2021: Public health officials and local healthcare leaders are begging Chelan and Douglas county residents to help slow community spread of COVID-19 and its variants.
Our healthcare system is overwhelmed and can no longer assure access to all needed care. Occupancy at Central Washington Hospital has reached an all-time high. The latest facts and figures impacting our local healthcare structure include:
34 hospitalized patients due to COVID-19.
5 in ICU and 14 in critical condition.
32 are NOT FULLY vaccinated.
All non-emergent surgeries requiring an inpatient hospital bed are delayed.
Those seeking emergent healthcare services should not delay. 24/7 emergency departments are located at both Central Washington and Wenatchee Valley Hospital.
Our local healthcare community needs the cooperation and contribution from its residents. Please:
Stay home, stay safe!
Wear masks indoors when outside your home.
Avoid large events and gatherings.
Get the COVID-19 vaccine -- vaccination is the best defense.
