Jail staff honored at May recognition event

The Chelan County Regional Justice Center’s 2023 Deputy of the Year and 2023 Support Staff of the Year were among those honored in May at the Wenatchee Valley Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony, an annual event that brings together the region’s law enforcement agencies.

Corrections Deputy of the Year is Marco “Urri” Urrutia, who has been with the jail for more than two years.

Support Staff of the Year are control room operator Greg Bull, a jail employee for five years, and business manager assistant Vetta Inabnit, who has also been with the jail for five years.

All nominations are made by the staff of the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.

Corrections Deputy Marco Urrutia

Deputy Urrutia received two nominations from his peers for the 2023 honor. Both nominations pointed to Urrutia’s hard work ethic and positive attitude.

“Urri exudes our values daily in many ways,” according to one nomination. “His integrity is shown to both staff and our incarcerated individuals with honesty and consistently following through with the commitments he makes.

“Urri, no matter what the intensity of the situation, shows respect for everyone,” according to another nomination. “His calm nature helps de-escalate situations quickly and his humor helps to recover from what the team has had to experience.”

Also nominated for the 2023 honors were Deputy Kyle Harmon, Deputy Jacob Lewis and Deputy Isaiah Abbott.

Vetta Inabnit & Greg Bull

According to Bull’s nomination, the controlroom operator has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the jail’s values and mission and is always willing to get the extra mile to help others.

“His hard work, dedication and attitude have made a significant impact on the teram and have contributed to the department’s overall success,” according to the nomination. “He produces high-quality work and shows eagerness to take on more significant responsibilities.”

On the administrative side, Inabnit had to take on many jobs outside of her duties in 2023. But she always completed the extra work with a great attitude, according to the nomination.

“Vetta did these tasks with a great attitude, integrity, accountability, respect, teamwork and professionalism,” according to the nomination. “These are the values of the Chelan County Regional Justice Center and represent exactly what Vetta has performed.”
