New LED streetlights coming to Chelan County

Starting in September and lasting until December, Chelan County and municipal governments will be replacing street lights with high efficiency light-emitting diode (LED) technology.

The new street lights are expected to reduce maintenance and energy costs throughout the county. The light fixtures are designed to provide safety and security while also reducing maintenance costs and light pollution. Sample LED streetlights are currently in place in a few Wenatchee neighborhoods. LED streetlights also can be found in many other areas around the Wenatchee Valley.

Approximately 3,700 street lights are being replaced at no cost to the county or municipal governments using a combination of grant funding from the State of Washington and Chelan County PUD.
