Roads identified for 2019 chip sealing season

The Chelan County 2019 Road Preservation Program has kicked off for the season, with pre-level work expected to begin the week of May 20.

Road district crews throughout the county have been crack sealing roads scheduled for chip sealing this summer. Roads in the 2019 program were previously identified based on a rating system that defines what state the pavement is in and what fix is required.

The preservation program’s progress is highly dependent on weather, equipment and, most recently, wildfire season. Roads scheduled for preservation this year are:

Chelan County Public Works reminds citizens that if they live on a road slated for chip sealing that they will likely see crews in front of their home more than once during the summer road construction season. That’s because there are three steps to the preservation process: crack sealing, pre-level work and chip sealing. So crews will be moving throughout the districts while completing pre-level work and then will return for chip sealing.

Motorists should expect travel delays during both the pre-level and chip-sealing processes. Expect to see one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic with up to 20-minute delays at times. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes when crews are in their area.

For more information, visit the Pavement Preservation Program page on the county’s website. Keep up on the crew’s progress throughout the summer – and which district they are in – by following the Chelan County Public Works Facebook page.
