Seasonal road closures extended on Horselake, Burch Mountain roads
The Chelan County Board of County Commissioners has passed a resolution allowing for the extension of seasonal road closures on four roadways in the county.
The roads impacted are: Burch Mountain and Horselake roads in Wenatchee, Oklahoma Gulch Road near Entiat, and Mountain Home Road in Leavenworth.
The late snowfall this year, combined with the recent snow melt, has created a soft road base on some roadways. Until the roadways are dried out, these roadways are susceptible to damage by the general public. The roadways were scheduled to all be open by April 1; however, they will be re-evaluated next week for an opening.
Chelan PUD and the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust also announced they will delay the opening of the Sage Hills Trails west of Wenatchee for at least a week. A tentative opening date is April 5. Chelan County Public Works, in partnership with the two agencies, also will look at tentatively opening Horselake Road on April 5; the road will remain gated until at least that date.
