Visiting Chelan County offices? Please wear a mask

Chelan County will require visitors – vaccinated or unvaccinated – to wear masks when visiting county offices.

In addition, all county employees (vaccinated or unvaccinated) will be required to wear masks when in spaces shared with the public, such as lobbies and elevators. Individual department directors and elected officials will determine if their staff members should wear masks while working.

“The local cities and the county, in discussions with the health district last week, have agreed to re-establish mask requirements for the visiting public because the Delta variant continues to spread quickly in our community,” Chelan County Commissioner Bob Bugert said. “Our current COVID-19 case numbers are on par with some of our highest numbers we have seen since the pandemic started.”

Health officers in Region 7, which is made up of Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas and Okanogan counties, have advised that everyone wear a mask in indoor public places because of the rapidly increasing spread of COVID across the state that is being driven by the Delta variant. The Chelan-Douglas Health District also has issued a health advisory, asking people to wear masks when indoors and outside their homes.

People are reminded that many of the permits they are looking for from Chelan County Community Development or Public Works can be handled online. Fees also can be paid for over the phone. Visit the respective departments’ websites for applications.

Bugert thanks the public and county employees in advance for following the mask requirements.

“It’s been a long year, and we recognize that,” he said. “We don’t want to close county offices again to the public, so please wear your mask when visiting.”
