Weekly Road Maintenance Update

Road Construction & Maintenance Update: Week of Aug. 10

To minimize potential exposure to COVID-19 to staff and the public, Chelan County Public Works is open by appointment only. Call 667-6415 for an appointment.

County Construction

West Cashmere Bridge Replacement Project: In-water work is underway on the project and will be through Sept. 30. The construction crew will be working five days a week, building a 300-foot work trestle over the water. Recreationists on the Wenatchee River who must pass by the bridge should pass just left of the bridge’s center pier. The change in passage is temporary. This route will take river recreationists under the temporary work trestle that is being built, through a 48-foot clear area. Avoid the area where crews are working from a floating platform. More details, including a photo showing where rafters can pass, are on the project’s construction page.

2020 Preservation Program: Chip sealing wraps up this week in the Wenatchee area, with crews expected to be in the Sunnyslope area (Northridge Drive, Knowles Road, Rolling Hills Lane, Elizabeth Court, School Street and West Peters Street) early in the week and on Easy Street after Monday. When crews are chip sealing, the roadway is at one lane, with flaggers controlling traffic. A pilot car may be used in high trafficked areas. Minor traffic delays should be expected. Motorists are reminded not to park along the roads that are scheduled for chip sealing for the week crews will be in that area. Follow the progress of chip sealing on the CCPW Facebook page.

Wenatchee Heights Road Improvement Project: Project begins Aug. 10 and should be completed in mid-October. During construction, motorists should plan for some traffic delays, with flaggers directing the one-lane traffic. A pilot car also will be used to safely guide motorists through the work zone, and the speed limit in the construction area will be reduced to 25 mph.

Guardrail Repairs: A contractor for the county will be replacing damaged guardrail around Chelan County beginning on Aug. 10. The contractor will begin in Wenatchee, working on portions of Mission Ridge and Squilchuck roads. That work should take about two weeks. The crew then will move to Stine Hill in Cashmere, Chumstick Highway in Leavenworth and Gill Creek Road near Stevens Pass. When working, traffic is at one lane in the work area, with flaggers directing motorists. Minor traffic delays may occur. Guardrail work is expected to take about 12 working days.
