Manson Downtown: On Wednesday, May 11, crews will be working throughout the day in downtown Manson, impacting parking. Crews will be brooming and washing the street and sidewalks on Wapato Way (from Wapato Point Parkway to the fire station) for the upcoming Manson Apple Blossom parade. Motorists are asked not to park in that area from 4 to 11 a.m. In addition, one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic will cause minor traffic delays during this time.

The county’s Traffic Safety crew then will be striping downtown Manson beginning at 9 p.m. on May 11. Vehicles need to be off the roadway from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. so the crew can work.

On Saturday, May 14, Wapato Way will be closed from Quetilquasoon Road to Pedoi Street from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Manson Apple Blossom Parade and Fun Run.

Pre-Level to begin in mid-May: The county’s summer pre-leveling effort is expected to begin the week of May 16, with crews in Cashmere and Wenatchee that week and moving onto the Chelan and Leavenworth districts the following week. For a list of county roads scheduled for pre-leveling this year and information on what to expect if road preservation is occurring in your neighborhood, go to Road Preservation Program page. Chip sealing is then expected to begin in mid-June.

During pre-level work, crews will apply a thin layer of asphalt over Preservation Program roads to fill in ruts and low spots in preparation for chip sealing. Chip sealing is when a coating of liquid asphalt and gravel is applied over the pre-level work. Both phases of the chip sealing process are highly weather dependent; schedules may change with the weather.

ROAD DISTRICT MAINTENANCE

District 1 (Wenatchee)

The crew will be prepping preservation roads for pre-level work next week. No traffic delays expected.

District 2 (Cashmere)

Crews will be repairing guardrail about a mile up on Nahahum Canyon Road. Motorists should watch for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work area. Crews also will be doing a hazard tree removal on Camas Road. One-lane, flagger-controlled traffic also will be needed in this work area.

District 3 (Leavenworth)

Temporary, seasonal weight restrictions remain on Cedar Brae Road in the Leavenworth District.

District 4 (Entiat)

Crews will be repairing potholes on Entiat River Road.

District 5 (Chelan)

The crew will be crack sealing in the Manson area as weather allows. Watch for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work zone. The crew also will be repairing potholes in the Manson area and screening material at Stayman Flats. In addition, the crew will be brush cutting and completing a shoulder stabilization project in the Manson area, both of which will require one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work zones. Plan for minor delays in these areas as well. On May 11, the crew will be working in downtown Manson. See above for details.
