This project is the second phase that will improve Eagle Creek Road in Leavenworth. A rural minor collector leading to U.S. Forest Service land, the road serves residential and school bus traffic, orchardists, outdoor enthusiasts and logging traffic. The beginning of the project connects to the previously rehabilitated section (completed in 2011) at milepost 3.30 and concludes at the end of the county road at milepost 5.81.
The contractor on the project is Granite Construction Company.
The project will use full-depth reclamation, or FDR. FDR is a pavement rehabilitation technique in which the fully flexible pavement section and a portion of the underlying materials are uniformly crushed, pulverized and blended, resulting in a stabilized base course.
During construction, Eagle Creek Road will not be closed. The roadway impacted will be open to one lane, with flaggers controlling traffic. Motorists can expect up to 20-minute delays. Access to all driveways will be maintained during construction. The speed limit in the work area will be reduced to 25 mph.
The $1.1 million project is funded by state monies and by a federal grant.
