The FCZD was awarded $180,000 from a federal post-fire grant program that supports wildfire recovery. The money will be used to up size three culverts on Antoine Creek Road, helping to minimize future post-fire flooding.

From June 1 through June 10, the Dryden Transfer Station will be closed to all customers so a contractor can make needed repairs. The facility will re-open on June 11.

The Wenatchee Heights Road Improvement Project will begin Aug. 10, 2020, and take about 60 working days.
The West Cashmere Bridge will be closed beginning May 4, 2020. The bridge will not be re-opened until fall 2021 when a new bridge is in place.

This morning the Chelan County Board of Commissioners have taken the step of signing an Emergency Declaration Resolution in regards to the COVID 19 virus. Chelan County now has two confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus in our County, and the precautionary measures put in place by the Governor and the Federal Government have impacted our community. By signing this resolution local businesses and non-profits will now have access to potential State and Federal assistance. The Chelan County Commissioners are encouraging residents to remain cautious and aware and to do everything possible to help one another during this difficult time.
UPDATED 3/26/20: Out of an abundance of caution over COVID-19, hours and services at both the Dryden and Chelan transfer stations have been reduced for the general public. Brush yards are closed to the general public at the two facilities.

The Chelan-Douglas Horticultural Pest and Disease Department will be kicking off our free Backyard Fruit Tree Removal Program on March 9th, 2020. The program runs from March through October each year in both Chelan and Douglas Counties.

UPDATED: A $19.3 million contract was awarded to SB Structures of Seattle for the construction of the new West Cashmere Bridge. An open house planned for the project has been cancelled.

Sandbag materials are available for Chelan County residents at county-owned public works maintenance shops. Residents who have an immediate need for sandbags because of high runoff or snowmelt issues can call the public works maintenance district of which they reside to set up a time to fill and pick up the sandbags.
Bids are due on Feb. 25 for the construction of a second tipping floor at the Dryden Transfer Station.
Clean Harbors Environmental Services of Kent, a contractor with Chelan County Public Works, will be visiting the area about once a month to pick up hazardous material from businesses at the county’s new Moderate Risk Waste Facility. Appointments for pick-up must be scheduled with Clean Harbors.
Des Moines Municipal Court Administrator Jennefer Johnson and Chelan County Superior Court Administrator Fona Sugg were both named as the 2019 Court Manager of the Year at the BJA/CMC joint meeting on November 15. The award, established in 1987, honors an outstanding court manager for their exemplary contributions to the administration of justice in our courts.
