Report for jury duty scam!
A popular scam is back in our community!
If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office, the Chelan County Superior Court Clerk's Office or the Jury Administrator’s Office, advising you there is a warrant for your arrest because you failed to report to jury duty, be on high alert. This is a scam! The scam caller typically threatens you with arrest unless you pay a fine.
No one from our county offices will ever call you and make such a claim or demand for money. If you are a candidate for jury duty, the Chelan County Superior Court's Office will always send you a letter in the mail, with the appropriate information and contacts. Again, we do not call and we do not ask for money.
What do you do if you are a target of such a scam? Hang up immediately. Do not release any personal information or purchase any pre-paid cash cards, or send any type of payment. Do not meet up with these callers. Do not call them back. If you have questions, call us at 509-667-6380 for more information.
