24C01091, 2540, 2555 Burglary Arrests

On the night of February 6th, 2024, a construction site at the Tumwater Dam, west of Leavenworth was burglarized. The suspect(s) stole over $30,000 worth of tools. On March 24th, the victim of the burglary located some of his tools advertised for sale on Facebook Marketplace. On March 25th, CCSO Detectives were able to arrange the purchase of some of the tools from the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Mikulas MacHacek of Leavenworth.  A search warrant authorized Detectives to search the home of MacHacek, where they recovered approximately $24,000 in tools from the Tumwater Dam burglary and two other commercial burglaries in King County. These tools were recovered and returned to the rightful owners. MacHacek was booked into the Chelan County Jail for trafficking stolen property first degree and possession of stolen property first degree.

While conducting this investigation, Detectives became aware of another commercial burglary in Leavenworth that occurred the night of March 24th, the day before MacHacek was arrested. During this burglary, over $15,000 in tools were stolen from a local construction company in Leavenworth. Additionally, while Detectives were searching MacHacek’s residence, they learned his neighbor’s Ford F-250 had been stolen within the last couple days.

Interviews with Detectives revealed MacHacek was with 25-year-old Kalani Heiser the night of the recent commercial burglary in Leavenworth. On March 26th, the stolen F-250 was recovered by Bellevue Police at the Carrington Apartments in Bellevue, Washington. On March 28th, CCSO Detectives travelled to King County and continued the investigation with the assistance of the Bothell Police Proact Unit. Detectives discovered Heiser was living at the Carrington Apartments in Bellevue, where the stolen F-250 was recovered. Investigators developed probable cause Heiser was storing the tools stolen from AP Construction inside his apartment.

On March 28th, with the assistance of the Bellevue SWAT Team, Kirkland Police Department, and Bothell Police Department, CCSO Detectives served a search warrant at Heiser’s apartment and arrested him for burglary second degree and an outstanding felony warrant. He was transported to Chelan County and booked into the Chelan County Regional Jail. Detectives searched Heiser’s apartment and recovered the tools from the AP Construction burglary and the Tumwater Dam burglary, two stolen handguns from a burglary in Bellevue, a sawed-off shotgun, and an improvised explosive device.

This investigation led to the recovery of approximately $50,000 worth of stolen property.  MacHacek and Heiser are currently in custody at the Chelan County Regional Jail being held on $10,000 and $20,000 respectively.
