Sheriff Morrison reports, in the morning hours on 11/19/2024, Cashmere School Resource Officer Deputy Mutch obtained information that a 14-year-old former male student made threats of violence toward the Cashmere School District. Despite the threats being general in nature, they rose to the level of a felony-level crime. The student had not been physically attending school as a result of recently being charged with a sex offense that had occurred approximately a year ago.
Shortly after receiving the information, additional deputies and detectives were called, and the suspect was taken into custody away from campus without incident. Due to the quick response of Deputy Mutch and detectives, they were able to arrest the suspect prior to the students arriving at school. That alleviated the need to lock down any school district buildings.
