Chelan County commissioners will hold a ribbon-cutting event on April 16 to commemorate the opening of the new Olds Station Campus, home to the Chelan County Coroner, Emergency Management and the county's motor pool.
Believed to be WSU’s longest-serving employee, Margaret Viebrock, director of Chelan-Douglas County Extension, marks 55 years and counting with the institution. She received university, national and state awards for her length of service and impactful outreach this past fall.
The WSU Chelan-Douglas Master Gardener Program recently conducted a class for homeowners on pruning backyard fruit trees. The class at the WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center drew 25 attendees.
Results of the 2026 Homeless Point in Time Count, held on Jan. 29 across Chelan and Douglas counties, show decreases over last year in both people living unsheltered and in the number of people living in shelters or temporary housing.
An $8.7 million construction project that will update the aging and failing plumbing in the Law & Justice Building is underway. The project is expected to take up to 12 months.
Chelan County and community partners will conduct the annual Homeless Point-in-Time Count on Jan. 29 at the Salvation Army Social Services Office in Wenatchee. This is the fifth year the county is coordinating the event for the area.
In response to the recent rain and windstorms that caused damage across the county on Dec. 10, a state of emergency has been declared in Chelan County.
