Chelan County emergency management officials remind mushroom hunters headed into areas burned by the Cougar Creek Fire to be vigilant about keeping up-to-date on weather forecasts and having a pre-planned escape route in the event of seasonal rain showers.
UPDATE: Chelan County Public Works will be conducting a permitted burn at its county-owned property at the intersection of East Leavenworth and Icicle roads. The burn will happen on Tuesday, April 16.
The Chelan County commissioners passed a resolution allowing for the extension of seasonal road closures on Burch Mountain and Horselake roads in Wenatchee, Oklahoma Gulch Road in Entiat and Mountain Home Road in Leavenworth.

Chelan County commissioners in January awarded construction contracts for both the High Street Drainage and the Yodelin Creek Culvert Replacement projects, which will be completed this year.
Chelan County Public Works began brooming this week on Mission Ridge Road after receiving reports from drivers who have found a tar-like substance on their vehicles after traveling on the road. Beginning Jan. 15, the Dryden Transfer Station switches to its winter hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Local agencies are hosting a community meeting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, for property owners in the Mad River watershed area and other interested parties impacted by this summer’s Cougar Creek Fire. The meeting is at the Entiat Fire Hall, 2200 Entiat Way.

Chelan County commissioners have awarded a $1.1 million contract to a Moses Lake company for the construction of a facility that will allow residents to safely dispose of common household chemicals on a year-round basis. The facility should be completed in summer 2019.
The Sheriff’s Office works diligently to stretch the value of our budget by deploying personnel and equipment for the greatest benefit to our County and its citizens. Donations in the past have helped to fund purchasing a new K9, Chief for a Day uniforms, Search & Rescue supplies and other items that are critical resources necessary for local law enforcement but are not included in our county budget.

Join Chelan County Public Works at a community meeting on Sept. 18 to get an update on the progress of the West Cashmere Bridge Replacement Project. The meeting will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cashmere's Riverside Center.

A newly formed steering committee is spearheading the updating of the 2011 Chelan County Multi-Jurisdiction Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. The committee is asking the public to complete a short survey. The results then will be used to identify and plan for natural disasters in Chelan County.
Starting this September and lasting for about four months, Chelan County and municipal governments will be replacing streetlights with high efficiency, light-emitting diode (LED) technology. About 3,700 streetlights are being replaced using a combination of grant funding from the state and Chelan County PUD.
