Out of concern for potential new wildfires and limited firefighting resources, Chelan County has closed Horse Lake Road in Wenatchee, which leads to the popular Horse Lake Reserve. No date for reopening has been determined.
The project at Chumstick Highway at Beaver Hill near Plain has been delayed out of an abundance of caution and wildfire concerns. Start date is Sept. 28, with a full closure through Oct. 17.
A contractor for Chelan County Natural Resources will begin replacing a culvert on Sand Creek Road on Sept. 8, temporarily closing access to public lands above the project.
The Board of County Commissioners recently passed a resolution closing the dirt portions of Horse Lake and Burch Mountain roads on July 1-8 because of concerns for drought conditions and illegal fireworks.
The speed limit on a portion of Beaver Valley Road has been temporarily lowered to 35 mph to accommodate an increase in traffic resulting from closures on US 2. The speed reduction is from approximately Pobst Place to the Wenatchee River bridge near Plain.
